Mainland China runs the JLPT through NEEA with a large city network (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and dozens more). Hong Kong uses a separate host. Neither uses Japan MyJLPT.
Quick answer: Mainland China runs the JLPT through NEEA with a large city network (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and dozens more). Hong Kong uses a separate host. Neither uses Japan MyJLPT.
Mainland China (NEEA)
Register on the NEEA JLPT portals linked from jlpt.jp (jlpt.neea.cn). Your admit document names the venue. Follow NEEA photo and ID rules exactly — rejections waste six months.
City pages: Beijing, Shanghai.

Hong Kong
Hong Kong is listed separately with the Society of Japanese Language Education, Hong Kong as host. Use that pathway — not the mainland NEEA form. Page: Hong Kong.
Test-day constants
Same exam worldwide: pencils only, phone off, shared-speaker listening, sectional minimums. Prep with a timed practice test before you travel.

What “center” means on results day
The building does not grade you. Sectional minimums do. Use voucher week for maps and sleep; use the weeks before for timed mocks with sectional feedback on PrepMyJapanese.
Listening under shared speakers
Practice once-only audio without scrubbing. Raise your hand during the official sound check if you cannot hear. Pair logistics with a practice test and the listening guide.
After you finish
Stay seated until proctors dismiss the room. Results follow the local host schedule — often about two months later. Certificates do not expire, but some employers want recent sittings.

How to use the official overseas list
- Open jlpt.jp overseas hosts.
- Find your country row and city.
- Note whether July, December, or both are marked for the current year.
- Follow only that host’s registration instructions and payment channel.
- When the admit notice arrives, trust it for the building — not a screenshot from a previous sitting.
Cities are added and removed between years. If a city you want is missing, pick the nearest listed city you can legally reach, or wait for the next published table.
Universal packing and room rules
- Admission ticket / voucher from the local host
- Passport or the exact photo ID listed at registration
- HB pencils, eraser with sleeve removed, simple analog watch
- Phone powered off and stored away from the desk
- No smartwatches; no pens or highlighters on the paper
Listening is usually played once from shared speakers. If the sound check is unclear, raise your hand immediately. Train that constraint with PrepMyJapanese timed practice tests and once-only audio drills.
Timeline that prevents no-shows
Registration week: complete the correct host form the day the window opens if seats are scarce.
Four weeks out: book transport/hotel only after you know the city is offered.
One week out: dry-run the door-to-desk walk if local; pack ID photocopies if the host wants them.
Night before: pack stationery; charge navigation devices that will stay outside the room.
Morning of: leave early on purpose. Being first in the hallway beats a perfect grammar score in a taxi queue.

Scoring reminder
Wherever you sit, pass rules are global: total scaled score plus sectional minimums. Logistics get you into the chair; sectional readiness keeps you from failing a strong total with one weak section.
Why we refuse permanent address lists
Publishing “Building B, Room 12” from a prior year causes wrong-gate arrivals. Hosts reassign capacity every sitting. PrepMyJapanese city pages explain registration and logistics; your admit notice owns the street address.
If a social media group posts a venue early, treat it as rumor until it matches your personal ticket.
Stack with study, not only maps
- Register on the correct host.
- Keep SRS / section drills running.
- Schedule full mocks on the practice hub.
- In the final fortnight, prioritize sleep and route rehearsal over new textbooks.
Candidates who only optimize logistics still fail listening floors. Candidates who only grind cards still miss the campus. Do both.
