// how to join
You can read these steps before signing up. The actual partner directory opens after paid access and one speaking level result.
Start with a normal learner account so your profile, level, requests, and sessions stay in one place.
The partner community is a premium member benefit included with paid practice packs.
Your result gives us your French level, so you only see partners close enough for useful practice.
Add your language, availability, and a short intro when you are ready to receive requests.
Connect with a learner, agree on a time, and meet inside PrepMyJapanese with video and chat.
Get matched with another serious learner near your CEFR level for scheduled conversation sessions inside PrepMyJapanese.
// how it works
Your AI speaking result verifies your French level from A1 to C2, so matching starts from real ability.
Discovery only shows learners within one band of you — so conversations actually flow.
Paid members with a verified speaking level can request partners and build a reliable practice circle.
No external apps. Topics, sessions and partner history all live in one dashboard.
Regular partners build the two skills students under-practise: speaking + listening.

// why it works
Mixed-level chats break down — one carries, one goes quiet. Same band means both stretch for the same words.
Agree on a topic in your session notes, then meet with built-in video + text chat. Nothing else to install.
The community is included with paid practice access, so everyone inside has invested in preparation and completed a speaking level check.
Graded prompts with instant feedback on grammar, vocabulary, and fluency.
Paid coaching with structured feedback and follow-up homework.
Small-group classes with weekly speaking practice built in.
Daily spaced-repetition cards so you have new words ready to deploy.
A language partner is another paid PrepMyJapanese member you practise French with, typically at the same CEFR level, through scheduled conversation sessions inside the platform. Partners exchange speaking practice; they are not tutors.
You need at least one completed AI speaking test because it gives you a verified CEFR level — A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, or C2. PrepMyJapanese uses your best speaking level from any attempt, then matches within or one band of that level so conversations are productive.
Once you have a connection, either of you can propose a session date and time. The other partner accepts or declines the proposal, and accepted sessions happen inside PrepMyJapanese without a third-party video app.
No. The partner community is included with paid PrepMyJapanese practice access. You also need to complete one AI speaking test so the platform can verify your level before showing the partner directory.
A tutor is a paid coach who structures the session for you, corrects your French, and tracks your progress. A language partner is a peer who is also learning — you both speak, both make mistakes, both improve. Many students use both: partners for daily reps, tutors for focused weekly coaching.
You can report a no-show or inappropriate behaviour and block a partner. Blocking removes the connection and prevents future discovery or connection requests between both accounts.
